On The Road Again

Heading in to Los Angeles to do a shoot with New Directions.

New Direction's mission is to empower veterans and facilitate their successful return to families and society. The New Directions Women's Program was the first program in the United States designed specifically for female veterans dealing with issues of homelessness, drug and alcohol addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental health issues.

We had an awesome shoot today. Looking forward to the next one.

What Is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that can occur following the experience or
witnessing of a traumatic event. A traumatic event is a life-threatening event such as military combat,
natural disasters, terrorist incidents, serious accidents, or physical or sexual assault in adult or childhood.
Most survivors of trauma return to normal given a little time. However, some people will have stress
reactions that do not go away on their own, or may even get worse over time. These individuals may
develop PTSD. (U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs National Center for PTSD, February 2010)

Filming Begins

We had our first interview on Tuesday, March 8, 2011.  We learned a lot about what not to do next time.  That's what life is all about.  There are no mistakes, just learning experiences.

Follow us as we journey into the world of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and its effects on our military personnel and their families.  These men and women have laid their lives on the line for us.  Let's learn as much as we can so we might show our support and appreciation for all they've sacrificed for us.
